Many Christian entrepreneurs wrestle with knowing their calling, especially when the world offers a thousand voices telling you what you should do and what success should look like. You begin to question: Am I even called to do this? What if I take the wrong step?
In Episode 1 of The Called Entrepreneur Podcast, we dive straight into this struggle. Before you can build a business that truly honors God, you need clarity about your calling. Without that clarity, every decision feels heavy and uncertain. With it, your business becomes a powerful way to live out your purpose and impact others.

Without clarity, it’s easy to:
But when you understand your calling, everything shifts. You gain confidence, focus, and peace knowing your work aligns with God’s will—not just your own ambition.
Many people confuse purpose and calling. Here’s a simple way to think about it:
Before I understood this, I wasn’t living the full life God had for me. It was easy to hide behind the vastness of a general “purpose,” which became an excuse not to step into my specific calling. I would tell myself,
“There are plenty of others who are more qualified than I am to do something about that.”
But when I realized that my calling was unique and tailor-made for me, I began to see how God was leading me toward the exact business I was meant to build. I wasn’t 100% confident in my own skills, but I knew that if this was where God wanted me, He would equip me with His strength and the skills needed to be successful.
In this episode, I break down how to stop chasing a one-size-fits-all idea of success and instead recognize how God is leading you in this very moment. When you understand that your purpose is the foundation and your calling is your unique assignment, things start to click, becoming less overwhelming and more actionable.
The story of Nehemiah offers a powerful blueprint for entrepreneurs as we discern our calling. Nehemiah didn’t just have a vague sense of purpose—he had a clear assignment from God: rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
What we learn from Nehemiah’s calling:
The same is true for us today. God often reveals our calling by connecting the burdens we can’t ignore with the gifts He’s already given us. Then we must follow the same process that Nehemiah models: prayer, clarity, strategy, and obedience.
If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels, here are three practical steps you can take today:
What gap or problem stirs something deep in you? What makes you say, “Someone should do something about that?” What energizes you? That burden is often a clue to your assignment.
God rarely calls you to something completely disconnected from how He’s already wired you. List out your natural skills, experiences, and spiritual gifts. How might they serve others in a way that glorifies God and creates value in the marketplace?
Clarity comes through action. Prayer and reflection are the solid foundation—but pairing them with movement is what confirms direction. Don’t wait for the full picture before moving forward. Like Nehemiah, take the next faithful step, and trust God to unfold the rest.
Once you begin to identify your calling, the next step is translating it into a business model that honors God. Without clarity, you risk building a business that looks successful on the outside but leaves you empty on the inside. With clarity, every marketing decision, every product, every client relationship feels purposeful because you know you’re operating in your assignment. You no longer have to hustle harder, you can build with wisdom, discernment, and integrity.
And here’s the best part: when you’re walking in your calling, it doesn’t just bless you—it blesses everyone around you. Your work not only becomes profitable, it makes an eternal impact.
