Here’s the sobering truth: Fewer than 10% of startups ever reach $10K in monthly recurring revenue. And of those who break through that barrier? Fewer than 1% scale to $100K MRR.
If you’re stuck, you’re not alone—you’re in the majority. But that doesn’t mean you have to stay there.
In Episode 9 of The Called Entrepreneur™ Podcast, I break down the five business levers that determine whether your business stalls or scales. These are the same levers whether you’re building to your first $10K month or scaling to consistent six and seven figures—only the tactics change.
This isn’t about hustle culture or quick fixes. It’s about understanding which levers to pull, when to pull them, and how to optimize them at every stage of growth while staying rooted in your faith and values.
[00:00] Introduction — Why hustle alone won’t scale your business and what actually produces breakthrough
[02:24] Understanding the $10,000 Plateau — Why most faith-driven founders plateau (and why it’s not about talent, calling, or work ethic)
[05:03] Fiver Levers for Exponential Growth — How these levers work together like gears in a machine to create exponential growth
[06:35] Lever 1: Leads and Visibility — From organic content to systematic lead generation machines (and why vanity metrics are killing your growth)
[11:09] Lever 2: Conversions and Sales — The evolution from 1:1 discovery calls to 1:many sales systems that scale to six and seven figures
[14:31] Lever 3: Pricing and Offer Structure — Why premium pricing is stewardship, not greed (plus the real story of a seven-figure entrepreneur who almost underpriced himself out of impact)
[21:19] Lever 4: Product, Delivery, and Systems — Building infrastructure that allows your business to run without you being the bottleneck
[28:28] Lever 5: Retention, Referrals, and Reputation — Your most profitable growth lever (and why it costs 5x more to acquire new clients than retain existing ones)
[35:53] Closing Encouragement & Next Steps — Identifying which lever needs your attention most, taking action this week, and an invitation to The Called Entrepreneur Accelerator
Your ability to consistently attract your ideal clients. Most Christian founders confuse humility with invisibility, posting inconsistently and hoping the right people find them. But visibility isn’t vanity—it’s stewardship.
Early Stage ($0-$10K months): Organic content, strategic networking, speaking opportunities
Scaling Stage ($10K-$100K+ months): Paid advertising, podcast guesting, strategic partnerships, sales teams
Key Insight: Stop chasing vanity metrics (likes, followers, viral posts). Virality often means you appealed to the masses, not your ideal client. Speak directly to your ideal client’s deepest struggles and desires and the right people will show up—and actually buy.
Action Step: Track how many new qualified leads you’re generating each week. If that number isn’t growing, this is your first lever to pull.
Lever 2: Conversions and Sales
Your ability to turn interested leads into paying clients. Every sales conversation is an opportunity to serve, not pressure.
Early Stage: Outreach messaging, 1:1 discovery calls, personalized proposals
Scaling Stage: 1-to-Many Sales Systems, webinars, sales and application funnels, group presentations, sales teams
Key Insight: As you scale toward six and seven figures, you cannot stay in 1:1 forever. Your sales process must evolve to 1-to-many models to multiply your capacity.
Action Step: If you’re doing ten calls to get fewer than four yeses, this lever needs your attention. Create a sales framework aligned with your values, always tying your offer to transformation.
Lever 3: Pricing and Offer Structure
What you charge and how you package your expertise. Undercharging doesn’t serve more people—it forces you to take on so many clients you can’t serve anyone well.
Early Stage: $1K-$5K packages, building case studies, refining products and methodology
Scaling Stage: $10K-$50K+ signature programs, group coaching, hybrid models, advisory consultation
Real Story: A former client with multiple seven-figure businesses and Fortune 500 C-level experience almost underpriced his coaching offer. Once he shifted to premium pricing, he attracted serious, committed clients and showed up better because he had the bandwidth to deliver at the highest level.
Action Step: Audit your pricing. Are you charging based on value or fear? Price according to transformation created, not hours invested.
Lever 4: Product, Delivery, and Systems
This is two interconnected pieces: exceptional client delivery and the systems that make it scalable.
Your delivery must be excellent—mediocre results mean clients leave faster than you can replace them. Revenue will be coming in, but it will be going out in the form of refunds. You will also find it exponentially harder to scale without excellent systems in place.
Early Stage: Core delivery workflows, onboarding checklists, communication templates
Scaling Stage: CRM software, team SOPs, automation, moving from the “doer” to the “architect” of your business
Biblical Foundation: Joseph didn’t just interpret dreams—he built systems during seven years of abundance that sustained Egypt through seven years of famine. Good stewards build systems that multiply impact without multiplying stress.
Action Step: Identify your three most time-consuming processes. Ask: Does this require my personal involvement, or could it be systematized, delegated, or automated?
Lever 5: Retention, Referrals, and Reputation
Maximizing the value of every client relationship and turning satisfied clients into your most powerful growth engine.
The Data: It costs 5x more to acquire a new client than retain an existing one. Referred clients close at 60%+ rates vs. 20-30% from other sources.
Early Stage: Exceptional experiences, testimonial requests at every client win, strategic referral asks
Scaling Stage: Systematic referral programs, client ascension pathways, affiliate structures, lifetime value optimization
Key Insight: Even thrilled clients need permission and a clear pathway to refer you. They want to help—you just need to show them how.
Action Step: Create a simple testimonial/referral request sent after every client win. If you’re scaling, design one upsell or next level offer and present it to your best clients this month.
These five levers don’t change whether you’re building to $10K months or scaling to $100K+ months. The levers remain constant—but how you pull them evolves.
Most founders focus on one or two levers (usually the comfortable ones) while ignoring the others. Then they wonder why their business won’t scale past a certain point.
When you understand all five levers and know which one to pull at the right time:
God honors our faith and our planning. Our prayers and our preparation. Our trust in Him and our strategic execution.
You don’t have to choose between being deeply faithful and being strategically brilliant. God gave you both a spirit of worship and a mind for wisdom. Use them both.
Pick one lever that needs your attention most right now:
Leads and Visibility: Are you struggling to consistently attract ideal clients?
Conversions and Sales: Are you getting leads but not closing them?
Pricing and Offer Structure: Are you undercharging or packaging in ways that don’t scale?
Delivery and Systems: Are you drowning in operational chaos with no strategic thinking time?
Retention and Referrals: Are you constantly chasing new clients instead of maximizing existing relationships?
Don’t try to optimize all five at once. Pick one. Commit to pulling that lever this week.
Small, faithful steps compound into extraordinary growth.
