Should you hire that new team member? Is it the right time to launch that new offer? How do you balance the drive for profitability with the call to lead with integrity? These aren’t just business questions; they are questions of discerning God’s will in your business.
The world tells you to trust your gut, follow your passion, or manifest your desires. But as believers, we have a better way. We’re called to invite God into our strategy, to seek His wisdom and align our plans with His will. But how do we do that practically, in the middle of a chaotic schedule?
In Episode 6 of The Called Entrepreneur Podcast, I invited a very special guest into the studio to answer that exact question: my husband, Pastor Jake Cirigliano.
This conversation is a deep dive into the six-part framework Jake teaches for hearing God’s voice and making decisions that honor Him.
[01:14] Pastor Jake’s Journey — From running from a call to ministry to embracing God’s path.
[03:02] Step 1: The Commitment to Pray — Why prayer isn’t about bending God’s will to ours, but realigning our priorities with His.
[14:25] Step 2: The Commitment to Scripture — How to use the Bible as your business compass and avoid the common trap of “scripture twisting” to fit your own agenda.
[26:03] Step 3: The Commitment to Seeing Reality — Why facing uncomfortable truths is a non-negotiable spiritual discipline for effective leadership.
[36:04] Step 4: The Commitment to Seeking Godly Counsel — A crucial look at who you allow to speak into your life and business, and why your inner circle matters.
[44:08] Step 5: Trusting the Holy Spirit — How to distinguish the Spirit’s nudge from your own ambition and desires.
[51:40] Step 6: Trusting God with the Outcome — The final, crucial step of letting go and allowing God to be in control of the results.
One of the most dangerous trends bleeding into the business world is the concept of “manifestation”—the idea that if you simply visualize your desires intensely enough, the universe will deliver them.
As Jake points out, the biblical model is the exact opposite. Prayer is not about telling God our agenda; it’s an act of submission where we ask Him to align our desires and our will with His. For a founder, this is the fundamental difference between building your own empire and building God’s Kingdom.
Here is the simple, powerful framework we discuss in the episode for making decisions, big and small:
This conversation is packed with wisdom, but we wanted to give you a tool to put it into practice immediately.

Discerning God’s will isn’t a one-time event; my prayer for you is that this will become a new operating system for your leadership, business, and life. It’s the daily decision to trade the anxiety of guessing for the peace that comes from inviting God into your strategy. It’s the joy of spending time in prayer, getting to know the Father and tuning into His vision, mission, and plans for you. Then, the more you grow in relationship with Him, the clearer His guiding voice will become. It’s going to take intentional time, and even practice, but rest in this: He doesn’t expect a perfect CEO out of you, only a faithful steward. Trust the process, and more importantly, trust the One who called you.
